Vessel Trackline
Introduction
The Vessel Trackline object provides a method to add a vessel and the path (trackline) associated with it. The object may include an optional 3D model that can be used to represent the vessel.
Storage Format
The extension associated with Vessel Tracklines is: .vesseltrackline.
Properties
Along with the standard properties that all objects share, the Vessel Trackline adds one more of its own, the point count for the trackline, and another set for the solid model. See the solid model documentation for more details of the latter: Solid Model .
Property Name | Description |
---|---|
Point Count | The number of nodes in the path for the trackline. |
Data Viewing Panel
The vertices in the vessel trackline can be viewed in the Data Viewing Panel.
Attributes
The options available as attributes to the Vessel Trackline object include
Show Trackline
Show Vessel
Camera
The first two are options to either display the related part of the Vessel Trackline object or not. If there is no model associated with the object (it is optional), the Show Vessel option will not be available. The attributes are illustrated here:

The Camera option gives a method to choose a video source, if present in a project with the Vessel Trackline object. Video sources are only available in projects. Clicking Configureā¦ presents a dialog similar to the following:

Select a video source then enter the desired heading, pitch, field of view and projected distance for the camera visualization. The latter is the position from the center of the model for the presentation of the video. The field of view is 45 degrees for a normal lens, narrower for telephoto lenses and wider for wide angle lenses. Adjust the parameters as desired for appearance or to the specification of the vessel.
Operations
To see the operations available for the surface object type right click the object's name and look in the Operations sub-menu or look at the Operations dropdown menu at the bottom left of the attribute panel. These operations include:
Change Object Coordinate System...
While this should be very rarely needed it can be used if necessary to change the coordinate system currently applied to the object. No projection is done here you are just telling it that this new coordinate system is what the object should have been in in the first place.
Exports
The Vessel Trackline object does not support any exports at this time.
