Fledermaus 8.8.0 Known Issues

On this page:

Installer - EPSG database not updated to latest version

Problem

The problem is the EPSG database included in the Fledermaus 8.8.EarlyAccess installer will not update previous versions of the EPSG database during installation.
This problem occurs if you have Fledermaus 8.7.2, Qimera 2.7.6, Qinsy 9.7.11 or an earlier version installed.

Workaround
You will need to manually remove the old EPSG database and copy the new version 12.025 into the Geodetic Resources folder.
Optionally, in case you would like to keep the earlier version and update the EPSG database, you can do the following:

  • Close all QPS applications.

  • Rename the following file to the example shown in the picture:

    image-20251216-160400.png
    • File location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\QPS\GeodeticResources\Setup

    • Rename file: epsggeodeticdatasetv10.sqlite3_old

  • Download and unzip the following file in your downloads folder:

  • Place that file into the following folder:

    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\QPS\GeodeticResources\Setup

You can now check your EPSG database here in the Help > About menu or in the Geodectic Configuration:

Planned fix
This is planned to be fixed in Fledermaus 8.8.1.

Notes

Bug

There are situations when mesh creation gets stuck in 3%  of the normal calculation of the meshes when working with the PCL algorithm. Workaround is to use the Quick Neighborhood algorithm when working with QPDs

8.2.0

Low

This is a situation with the third-party Library. We are investigating to prevent the situation of unexpected exit.

Bug

When working with multiple passes of MBES data, the differing passes can result in a suboptimal mesh solution. Workaround is to create the mesh with the best resulting one pass mesh.

8.2.0

Low

This is a situation with the third-party Library. We are investigating options to give the user better results when working with these types of datasets.

Limitation

Fledermaus does not support 2018 AutoCAD dxf/dwg files on the Linux platform but Windows and Mac should be fine. Workaround is to export prior versions of dxf and dwg.

8.3.0

 High

This is dependent on the Third-Party Library, we are working on upgrading this in the medium term.

Limitations

Tiff compressions not available for Mac and Linux - limiting the builds for Mac and Linux on latest versions

8.4.3

 High

We are working on the updates of the Third Party Libraries to be able to get the other OS systems supported in latest release
