Fledermaus 8.8.2 Release
February 25, 2026
We're pleased to present Fledermaus version 8.8.2.
Improvements
Added support for more space mouse devices.
Added support for the backtick ` key to toggle on and off selected layers in Fledermaus Viewer.
When files are removed from the scene, the Project dock now refreshes automatically so that the file list always reflects the current project contents.
Routes stored in the Projects
SDfolder are now correctly detected and displayed in the Project Sources widget, ensuring all relevant routes are available for selection and review.
Bugs
The “Export Cross Profile Series” operation now correctly honors which layers are checked. Only the selected layers are exported, instead of all layers.
Exporting profile control points now also respects the layer checkboxes, preventing unwanted layers from being included in exported control point data.
Profile data is no longer added to plots when the associated surface layer is hidden in the scene. This avoids confusing or unexpected profile traces based on invisible layers.
Exporting large grids to KML no longer results in intermittent crashes.
Exporting grids that use an image drape now works correctly; the exported result matches the on-screen appearance.
The “Export Surface as Image” function no longer shows incorrect or confusing image size warnings, making it clearer when exporting high‑resolution images.
Importing gridded data from TIFF now produces the expected result so that elevation/depth and positioning from TIFF sources are correctly represented in Fledermaus.
Importing attached surfaces no longer causes crashes during shading.
BAG files that have been imported as grids can now be deleted without having to close Fledermaus first.
The CUBE depth attribute can again be selected as a height layer for Dynamic Surfaces that include a CUBE layer.
The “Extract Area” operation now works consistently across the full extent of grid layers where it previously failed in certain regions.
When creating contours, the default contour name now correctly includes the source grid name, making it easier to identify which grid each contour set comes from.
Opening existing FM7 scene files in Fledermaus 8 now completes successfully instead of stalling indefinitely.
Known Issues
Issue | Summary | Affects Version/s | Expected Fix Version |
|---|---|---|---|
License Manager - Activate Softlock | Licensing - Opening older versions of Qimera may deactivate your license There is a known issue with licensing in older versions of Qimera. An error would appear in the dialog “Failed to Activate License” with the message “There are network adapters on the system that are disabled, please enable them and try again.” when trying to activate the softlock license. In order to fix this issue, we’ve updated the licensing in Qimera 2.8.0 and License Manager 1.10.2. This update may cause accidental license deactivation if you activate your license in Qimera 2.8.0 and then open an earlier 2.7.x version. The fix is to manually copy the DLLs (found in the link below) into that older version’s installation folder as noted in steps 1 and 2:
