Fledermaus 8.8.0 Important Notes
On this page:
Licensing
With this release there is a new License Manager version 1.10.2. This fixes the issue where an error would appear in the dialog “Failed to Activate License” with the message “There are network adapters on the system that are disabled, please enable them and try again.” when trying to activate the softlock license. Older versions of Fledermaus may still experience this issue.
If you activate the license in Fledermaus 8.8.0 and then open an earlier version, the softlock license may be lost. The fix is to manually copy the DLLs into that older version:
Existing Fledermaus users with a license that is under maintenance will be able to install and run Fledermaus 8.8 alongside older versions, using the same license.
QPS Project and file format versions
The QPS project version has been incremented. Projects opened in Qinsy 9.8.0, Qimera 2.8.0 and Fledermaus 8.8.0 are not able to be opened in Fledermaus 8.7.x and previous versions.
The QPS .qpd file has been upgraded with the Qimera 2.8.0 and Qinsy 9.8.0 release to version 2.12. New .qpd files from Qimera 2.8.0 and Qinsy 9.8.0 are not able to be opened by older versions.
HIPS I/O SDK
The HIPS I/O SDK now only supports version 12 CARIS licenses. This is due to the new HIPS I/O version requiring a HIPS 12 license. Older HDCS files are still able to be opened with the HIPS I/O SDK. Support for version 9/10 CARIS licenses has been dropped for increased installer security.
Installers
The Fledermaus installer will install by default into subdirectories with the 8.8.0 version name under the typical install path, which is usually C:\Program Files\QPS\Fledermaus.
This allows multiple installations quite easily.
Users with Fledermaus 7.X already installed will find that Fledermaus 8 will install into the Fledermaus 7 directory, but in the 8.8.0 subdirectory of the Fledermaus 7 installation folder.
Support for Fledermaus 7
Fledermaus 7 will be maintained alongside Fledermaus 8, as functionality is moved over to the new applications. Support for Fledermaus 7 will continue while the user base continues to transition to work with the new and improved Fledermaus 8.
