Fledermaus 8.7.0 Important Notes

On this page:

Licensing

With this release there is a new License Manager version 1.10.0 with several improvements.

Existing Fledermaus users with a license that is under maintenance will be able to install and run Fledermaus 8.7 alongside older versions, using the same license.

QPS Project and file format versions

The QPS project version has been incremented. Projects opened in Qimera 2.7.0 and Fledermaus 8.7.0 are not able to be opened in Fledermaus 8.6.x and previous versions. Both Qimera 2.6 and 2.7 and Fledermaus 8.6 and 8.7 projects are compatible with Qinsy.

The QPS .qpd file has been upgraded with the Qimera 2.7.0 and Qinsy 9.7.0 release to version 2.10. Fledermaus 8.5.3 will be able to read Qimera 2.7.0 and Qinsy 9.7.0 .qpd files, but older versions of Fledermaus will not be able to read the newer .qpd version.

QPD 2.10 is backwards compatible with the following application versions:

  • Qinsy 9.5.5 or greater

  • Qimera 2.5.4 or greater

  • Fledermaus 8.5.3 or greater

  • FMGT 7.10.3 or greater

Colormaps

With the release of Fledermaus 8.7.0 user defined colormaps are prompting users to save in: C:\Users\Public\Documents\QPS\Shared\ColorMaps which allows for sharing colormaps between users. Qinsy and Qimera colormaps can be read by Fledermaus.

Fledermaus default colormaps are still always installed in the Fledermaus install directory.

Installers

The Fledermaus installer will install by default into subdirectories with the 8.7.0 version name under the typical install path, which is usually C:\Program Files\QPS\Fledermaus.
This allows multiple installations quite easily and follows the trend that Qinsy has been using for some time.
Users with Fledermaus 7.X already installed will find that Fledermaus 8 will install into the Fledermaus 7 directory, but in the 8.7.0 subdirectory of the Fledermaus 7 installation folder.

Support for Fledermaus 7

Fledermaus 7 will be maintained alongside Fledermaus 8, as functionality is moved over to the new applications. Support for Fledermaus 7 will continue while the user base continues to transition to work with the new and improved Fledermaus 8.
