Qinsy 9.2.0 - Important Notes

On this page:

Installing Qinsy 9.2.0 on Windows 10 build number 2004

There is a known issue with an older HASP driver installer version in combination with Windows 10 build 2004.
This 2004 build is a new Windows 10 version that can be manually installed.

With Qinsy 9.2.0 we still install an older HASP driver version. We are currently testing a solution.

For now, before installing Qinsy 9.2.0, you first need to install the latest HASP driver version (8.11) which can be found here (bottom of the page).
This is fixed in 9.2.1 as shown here.

Switching back to 9.1 version

It is possible to switch back to an older 9.1 version. However, in 9.1 selecting a 9.2 project will not always open the project.
Some easy workarounds are available and are described in Qinsy 9.1.1 - Known Issues

Drivers - MBES - Kongsberg KMALL connection issue

In Qinsy 9.1.1 there was a connection issue since Qinsy wasn't checking all the network cards for the multicast port, just the priority one.
In Qinsy 9.2.0 we tried to improve that but it turned out this did not yet work properly.

We have a component which can be found under the Qinsy 9.2.0 - Known Issues.
This is fixed in 9.2.1 as shown here.

Console - Geodetic UI - Vertical CRS - AusGeoid2020 results in wrong GeoidModel to be used

With 9.2.0 we released the option to use the AusGeoid2020.
We found a bug related to this that we are currently working on. A workaround can be found here:

Licensing

To be able to use Qinsy 9, an upgrade to your QINSy 8 license is needed.

All QINSy 8 users will need to get in contact with Sales to obtain a new license.

Please contact Sales at sales@qps.nl or your Local Reseller.

Support for version 8

What will be supported:

  • Only versions 8.18 or higher are supported. It is recommended to use the latest Maintenance release
  • Fixes and patches will in general only be for critical and blocker bugs. Less critical bugs are also candidates to be fixed but this is not guaranteed.
  • The software will be tested by our test protocols for the current operating systems at the time of this release.
  • Support questions will be answered.
  • Training for QINSy 8 until 31st December 2021.
  • On site support for QINSy 8 until 31st December 2021.

Note that perpetual QINSy 8 licenses will continue to function.

Upgrades

An upgrade plan is available, please get in contact with Sales on how to obtain a new license. Contact Sales at sales@qps.nl

Database (Template) version

In Qinsy 9.0 and upward, the version of the Qinsy database has been upgraded and is therefore not compatible with previous versions (8.18). New records have been added which are not compatible with previous versions.
Before the upgrade, a backup of the template database is created in the Backup folder. Data that is recorded in Qinsy 9 is not compatible with previous versions.

The backup database will have .db_backup file extension. To use it again with QINSy 8, copy the template database back in to the database root folder and remove the _backup from the file extension.

Geodetics

The Knowledge Base contains documentation on how to set up the Geodetics in this new version of Qinsy: How-to Geodetic Upgrade 8.18.3 to 9.2

End of support for Qinsy on Windows 7

Microsoft has ended Support for Windows 7 in January 2020 and QPS will also stop supporting Windows 7. For now Qinsy 9.2 has been tested on Windows 7 without a problem.
Any problems with this version related to the Operating System will not be solved. Future releases will not be tested on Windows 7.

It is highly recommended to switch to Windows 10.
