Qinsy 9.6.5 - Known Issues

The QPS team is continuously improving Qinsy to implement new functionality and documentation.
Unfortunately, there are a number of known issues in our software release.

These software issues will be solved in future maintenance releases.

Drivers - KMALL - TCP - Cannot handle very large data packets

Problem
In 9.6.5 we improved the KMALL TCP connection.
This was tested with a EM2040C Dual head setup.

It turned out however, that deeper water sonars (for example EM712) send data packets that the driver did not handle properly.

Workaround
We have made a patch which you can add to Qinsy 9.6.5 (and probably other 9.6 versions as well).
The following zip contains an executable and a read-me text file that explains how to apply the patch:

Planned fix
The fix will be part of Qinsy 9.7.

Survey Manager - Static Grid - Export - DEM Tiff

Problem
When you export part of a grid layer to a DEM Tiff (using a selection), the DEM Tiff is shifted.

Workaround(s)

Export the entire grid layer to a DEM Tiff.
In case the file is to big, you could import part of a grid layer into a new layer and export that new layer to a DEM Tiff.

Planned fix
The fix is planned for Qinsy 9.7.2.

Survey Manager - Qinsy 9.7.0 Session file in combination with Common Files Folder

Problem
This is only applicable after Qinsy 9.7.0 is released.

In Qinsy 9.7.0 we will save the location of files in the Session file as relative files.
This to make it easier to move projects around.

This will mean however, if you open a 9.7.0 session in earlier versions, Survey Manager will not be able to find the files.
You can manually fix this, but it might be confusing.

Converting a design file into a background file will not show lines when the start and end point of a line are outside the view. (Viewing Panel)

Recommendation
Do not convert design files into background files. If lines from a design are needed in the Navigation Display, then create a dedicated background file.

The QPS team encountered a memory problem with CAD files which contain many complex blocks.

Recommendation
Do not use CAD files which contain many complex blocks. This bug will be solved in a future maintenance release.

Both the Survey Manager and Navigation Display are not Per monitor DPI aware.
With two monitors, each with different display scales, the scale on the secondary monitor will not be correct.
This also affects the way the ENCs are drawn.

Survey Manager - Plan View - ENC

ENCs produced by Rijkswaterstaat for the Dutch province of Zeeland and ENCs produced by the Netherlands Hydrographic office cannot be displayed simultaneously due to the different usage levels and compilation scales of both producers.

Survey Manager - Sounding Grid - Import Geoid Model

Since Qinsy 9.5.0 it is possible again to import most Geoid models into a sounding grid.
The only Geoid models that cannot be imported yet, are the ones that cross the dateline (+180° East/West).

Please let us know if you do need to import such a model.
