Import From Listing File Dialog

How to Start

  • Import Menu → Import Dynamic Cable/Pipeline → Import from Listing File

What It Does

This option can be used to import a cable pipeline object along with cross point listing values. When selected it will first the custom ascii parser dialog for one to specify the route points and option cross point listing field values. You can optionally specify up to a seven point listing file identifying which fields represent:

  • X

  • Y

  • Z

  • KP

  • Left Outer

  • Left Middle

  • Left Adjacent

  • Cover

  • Right Adjacent

  • Right Middle

  • Right Outer

X, Y, and Z represent the pipe center control point, KP the value at that control point, and the remaining up to a seven point cross listing. These are the z values of the various cross listing points.

General Description

Once the ascii parser is setup to import the file at hand the dialog above is shown. Only the listing options you assign in the parser will show up in the dialog above. It is here where one must identify the distance the cross listing point is away from the pipeline. Their x and y values are computed automatically from the route. In addition the Cable/Pipe diameter must be specified in order to import the object properly. Once everything is entered appropriately clicking Ok will ask for a filename to save the Cable/Pipeline object and it will be created and opened as specified.
