Kuhnt Pegel Tide Gauge - 22

Description

Driver to decode tidal height observations from a Kuhnt Pegel tide gauge receiver.

The Qinsy driver interrogates the receiver for new data. It can handle multiple tide observations from one transmitter.
Tide gauge id's are entered as slots.

Decoding Notes

The following fields will be decoded from the 'Bild 9' command message:

  • The tide observation, derived from the 'Height of water level' field
  • The tide observation quality indicator, derived from the 'Water level status indicator' field
The quality indicator will be 1 when 'rising', 2 when 'constant, 3 when 'falling', -1 for 'old data' and 0 when 'unknown'.

Notice that these values can be monitored using e.g. an Observation Physics or a Generic Display.

Interfacing Notes

Because the Qinsy driver needs to send commands to the Kuhnt Pegel receiver to get a response, it is important that the cable wiring between the receiver port and the COM port is bi-directional to allow two-way traffic.

Database Setup

Slot 1

Slot 1 of a tide observation must be filled with the tide gauge identifier as mentioned in the "Bild 9" and "Bild 4" message descriptions.

Example Slot Numbers:

Rechtenfieth

04970030

Dwargast

04960020

Note : It is very important that these slot numbers are valid.

Invalid slot numbers may cause irregular data reception from the tide gauge.

It is important that the update rate in the driver setup is set to 10 seconds to avoid communication problems.
