Qinsy 9.6.0 - Known Issues

The QPS team is continuously improving Qinsy to implement new functionality and documentation. Unfortunately, there are a number of known issues in our software release Qinsy 9.6.0.
These software issues will be solved in future maintenance releases. Please subscribe to our Newsletter and follow future maintenance releases to ensure optimal use of Qinsy 9.

For this release the following issues are known:

Survey Manager - Plotting - Microsoft print to PDF

The QPS team encountered a problem with the latest versions of the Microsoft print to PDF printer driver. It scales plots incorrectly when trying to print to pdf with certain paper sizes.

Recommendation:

(Re)Install Qinsy 9.6.0, our installer fixes the problem automatically!

OR

  1. Locate your local Qinsy installation, by default this is (with your Qinsy version):
    C:\Program Files (x86)\QPS\Qinsy\{Qinsy version}

  2. I the start menu, type “cmd”, right click on it and select ‘Run as administrator

  3. In the Command Prompt that just opened type (with your path to Qinsy):

    CODE
    cd {Path to Qinsy}\Survey Manager\Resources\Scripts

  4. Press ‘Enter’

  5. In the Command Prompt type:

    CODE
    AddCustomSize.vbs

  6. Press ‘Enter’

This should have solved the issue, you can now safely close the Command Prompt.

Survey Manager - CAD - Import ESRI Shape - Error due to proj.db file

Problem
In case you have a proj.db file in the following folder, you sometimes get an error when importing ESRI shape files.

  • C:\Users\<account_name>\AppData\Local\proj

It seems this file is added by BricsCAD or AutoCAD (and possibly others).

These software packages work with a diffent version of that file and overwrite the file when they use it.

Workaround
Delete or rename the proj.db file.

This because Qinsy currently does not have the option to overwrite the file, but it will create a new file if the proj.db file cannot be found.

Planned solution
The issue is planned to be fixed in Qinsy 9.6.2.

Displays - Navigation - CAD

Converting a design file into a background file will not show lines when the start and end point of a line are outside the view. (Viewing Panel)

Recommendation:
Do not convert design files into background files. If lines from a design are needed in the Navigation Display, then create a dedicated background file.

Displays - Navigation - CAD Survey Manager

The QPS team encountered a memory problem with CAD files which contain many complex blocks.

Recommendation:
Do not use CAD files which contain many complex blocks. This bug will be solved in a future maintenance release.

Displays - Navigation - ENC Survey Manager

Both the Survey Manager and Navigation Display are not Per monitor DPI aware.
With two monitors, each with different display scales, the scale on the secondary monitor will not be correct.
This also affects the way the ENCs are drawn.

Recommendation:
Please vote on: FQI-605

Survey Manager - Plan View - ENC

ENCs produced by Rijkswaterstaat for the Dutch province of Zeeland and ENCs produced by the Netherlands Hydrographic office cannot be displayed simultaneously due to the different usage levels and compilation scales of both producers.

Survey Manager - Sounding Grid - Import Geoid Model

Since Qinsy 9.5.0 it is possible again to import most Geoid models into a sounding grid.
The only Geoid models that cannot be imported yet, are the ones that cross the dateline (+180° East/West).

Please let us know if you do need to import such a model.
