FMMidwater
Introduction to FMMidwater
FMMidwater is a software program designed to rapidly extract relevant water column features from a range of sonar file formats. Raw sonar files are first converted to a Generic Water Column format (GWC) for use in further processing and visualization. A simple graphical user interface is used to perform threshold filtering on a number of key parameters to help with feature extraction. FMMidwater also provides multiple views of the water column features and finally allows for easy export to a variety of Fledermaus visualization objects and text files.
Use of the tool is broken up into four simple steps:
- Import sonar file(s)
- Convert to GWC format
- Identify features of interest using threshold filtering
- Export to Fledermaus for visualization or ASCII for custom processing
