Fledermaus Import Image from Web Mapping Service
How to Start
Import → Import Image from Web Mapping Services
What It Does
The Import Image from Web Mapping Service action will activate a dialog that will prompt for the URL of a Web Mapping Services portal. The details for that server will be displayed. Most servers will present a list of supported coordinate systems (CRS) for images that the server can deliver. Some servers will present a list of layers that can be selected. The dialog supports loading one CRS and one layer.
If a selection is present in the scene, it can be used to restrict the area of the image downloaded. Otherwise, the current bounds of the scene is used.
Overview
At this time, the dialog will import one static image to the specified file. If the CRS selected in the dialog is different from CRS in the scene, the image will first be reprojected. If the scene does not have a CRS set, the selected CRS will be used for the scene.
Note that if the scene has objects in it already, the image will be constrained to the nearest size that fits into the scene. Conversely, if the scene is yet to be populated, the bounds of the Earth for the given CRS will be used.
